
Police have charged race relations chief Gurbux Singh with threatening behaviour after an India-England cricket match.
Mr Singh, chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality, was charged with an offence under section four of the Public Order Act.
If he is convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail.
Mr Singh is accused of using threatening behaviour towards a police officer outside Lord’s Cricket Ground on 13 July.
He is due to appear at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court on 31 July.
Mr Singh, 51, became CRE chairman in February 2000 after being chief executive of the London borough of Haringey from 1989 to 2000.
He is a keen supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club and the Indian cricket team.
