IND vs SA 3rd Test: Ishant, Munaf back in squad

09 Apr

The Indian team can finally breathe a sigh of release. Ishant Sharma, who had to sit out of the first two Test matches has been declared fit to play in the third and final Test in Kanpur to be played from April 11.

Munaf Patel will be the other fast bowler to join Sharma in place of RP Singh who has clearly looked out of sorts in the two matches he played.

The surprise inclusions were those of spinners Ramesh Powar as well as leg spinner Piyush Chawla. Captain Anil Kumble’s fitness is already under the scanner and with Harbhajan Singh, the Indian spin department does look very strong and the move suggests the kind of turn the pitch power take.

However, there have been no further changes in the team, despite some rather nothing special performances.

India’s fast bowlers have so far been ineffective in the series. While the first match in Chennai ended in a broken draw, India were trounced by an innings and 90 runs in the second Test in Ahmedabad.
